Activity videos with children, dance team, the 2nd workshop
TukTalk 56 shows activity videos filmed with children, a new TukTuk dance team of teachers, the second CLIP workshop on 26 May and a spotlight on Adrian.
Just around the corner 🛫🛬

It’s already June, and here in Japan, it’s starting to feel more and more like summer. How are things going for you? For us, this heat has been a great practice ...Guess what for?
That's right! We are visiting Cambodia in the middle of this month, finally! Although we do talk with the staff nearly every day, still it is very exciting to actually work with them in person.
Milly is also excited to visit Cambodia for the first time and to meet her TukTuk brothers and sisters! We know that the next two months are going to fly by quickly, but we're going to make the most out of them.💪
Well, the world is still a bit uncertain, so we hope we can get to Cambodia safely first...

Filming videos in schools 🎥

As briefly mentioned in the last month's issue, in May we had teachers from two schools play games in their classrooms to demonstrate the material to other teachers in the workshop. In addition, we recorded when they were explaining the games to the kids and actual play time for our activity videos.
TukTuk's activity videos are instructional videos on how to play different games and activities. This year, we have gradually been able to film the videos with children, which we were unable to do during the pandemic. We plan to put these videos on YouTube soon, so stay tuned! 😊
A TukTuk dance team has been formed💃

The 7th TukBook and related Resource Package, which we started this year, will be finished soon. Here's a sneak peek... 💡
Two songs are included in this package. Usually, our TukTuk staff act and dance in our music videos, but this time we asked teachers from the State school, which is also a project partner, to be in! This is because we needed traditional Cambodian dance movements for a song.
The teachers, who graduated from the capital's preschool training institution, had traditional dance lessons as part of their curriculum, so their delicate gestures, which are characteristic of Cambodian dancing, were very beautiful!
We would love for everyone to see this dance when the Resource Package is ready. ♪
Khmer of the month
Khmer Word: Chrieng Chamrieng
World Music Day is on the 21st of this month. The Khmer phrase for this month is "sing a song". At TukTuk, our music production staff, Phaney, has been producing original kids' songs. Our partner teachers have been singing these songs in their classrooms so some of the students can sing and even remember them! You can listen to some of our songs by clicking here. ♪

The 2nd workshop 🌈

On May 26th, we held the second workshop for the CLIP Project. This time, we presented 2 Resource Packages, the stories of "Who Painted the Sky?" and "Tiny Tiny Monsters," as well as other relevant teaching resources.
We wanted to make this session as interactive as possible, so we had teachers who had previously used the materials demonstrate and explain how to use them, as well as tell the story of the two TukBooks in front of everyone. Moreover, provincial and district education officials, as well as teachers, shared their perspectives and suggestions with us, and we learned a lot from them.
Shortly after the session, the teachers who attended sent us pictures of their classes utilizing the materials. We're excited to return to the schools this month for a follow-up!
Voluntuker spotlight | Adrian

This month’s feature is on the captain of our TukTuk vehicle, Adrian! What prompted him to establish the organization, and what do Cambodia and TukTuk mean to him?
A small trivia about Adrian 😉:
- What I like about Cambodia: Definitely the people are what I love about Cambodia. I have never seen students that are so keen to learn. They study very long hours and it is not uncommon to see them taking extra classes after school, on weekends, and on holidays.
- One word to describe TukTuk: Passion: We, as supporters, are passionate about the work TukTuk does; our staff are passionate; the teachers who receive our resources are passionate; and the kids are passionate, too. All of this passion tells me that we are meeting the needs of everyone that is involved in TukTuk.
- A word for everyone: A big thank you to everyone that supports TukTuk. It is only through that support that we are able to function. It is hard to grasp impact without being there, however, the amount of work done every day and the response we get from teachers and students, both amaze and inspire me to keep pushing to produce more.
Adrian's sense of humor inspired the creation of "Tuk" words such as "Voluntuker" and "Tukrousah." By the way, have you noticed that he is a little bit like one of the TukBooks's original characters...?! (He denies it. 😜)
