Farewell for now 👋🏽

In the blink of an eye, we have only two and a bit months left in this year. We feel like we say this every year 😅, but a year goes by really fast.
We will be staying in Japan for the rest of the year, and we said goodbye to the Cambodian team for a while. However, October is a school vacation month, so more of our staff have been working remotely. But don't worry! At TukTuk, we usually use computer tools to manage our work, share information on our progress, and have online meetings once a week. We are truly grateful for technology that allows us to work in this way while adapting to our own lifestyles.
Meanwhile, we would love to further expand our network and increase the number of TukTuk friends in Japan, so please let us know if you are able to meet with us or introduce us to someone.
Warm regards,
Adrian & Mayu & Milly 🦘👘🧒
Last school visit of this year 👀

After the last workshop of the year in August, we visited each school in September as usual to observe the teachers' classes. What was impressive was that the classes were even more extensive than the previous ones.
During the first and second visits to schools soon after the project began, we only observed classes that used worksheets in most classes. From the third visit, however, we gradually began to see more activities that were not limited to classroom learning, such as songs, crafts, experiments, and activity games. This may be partly due to the class curriculum, but we also felt that the workshops gave the teachers more ideas that they could use in their classes.
What was even more exciting was that the teachers were using the TukTuk materials in their own unique ways. Illustrations that had been handed out as worksheets for use in other games were incorporated as part of new games created by the teachers themselves, and ideas introduced as craft ideas were used as teaching materials for other class content.
We believe that TukTuk materials are useful not only in the ways we suggest, but also when they are used in a variety of ways. That is why we are always trying to show the teachers how they can use TukTuk materials in various ways through our website and SNS.
Project interim survey 🎤

Schools in Cambodia have a month-long break started in October, and a new school year begins in November. So, to coincide with the end of the 2024 school year and the one-year anniversary of the start of the project, we conducted a midterm survey of the project as well as a school visit.
This was done to ask teachers how much they used our materials this year, what they thought of the materials, and how they have changed from participating in the project, in order to help us in our future teaching material creation and project management. Detailed information can be found here. If you are interested, please check it out.
When asked about each of the teaching materials, such as storybooks and songs, we found that in all categories, the responses indicated that there were positive changes in the children and the teachers themselves after participating in the project.
In addition to the overwhelming increase in the number of materials available, some said that the children's concentration and attendance had improved because the materials were more familiar to them. In addition, the fact that the TukTuk materials are in line with the government curriculum has been highly evaluated, and this also seems to be a reason why the materials are easy for teachers to use.
Furthermore, the teachers seemed to make good use of the opportunity to exchange opinions at the workshop, and it was stimulating to have teachers from all five regions and staff from the Early Childhood Educational office staff gathered in one place, as they do not have many opportunities to interact across county lines on a daily basis.
Khmer of the month
Khmer Word: Kahve
This day was designated as “National Coffee Day” in honor of October 1, the beginning of the coffee bean harvesting year in Brazil. The Khmer word for this month is “Kahve (coffee)". Many people in Cambodia also like coffee (especially latte), and the Khmer staff at TukTuk is a little worried that “I need to drink coffee every day to stay sharp!" We are a little bit worried about the caffeine and sugar intake 😅Coffee beans are produced in the mountainous areas in Cambodia. If you are interested, please check it out ☕.
Khmer Food: Cha Mi Sarsai Thom (Fried thick noodle) 👇

Three months outcomes (Jun. - Sep. 2024) 👏

In the three months from July to the end of this semester in September, we were able to accomplish the following activities and results 🎉:
- July 2024: 3rd Workshop, 3rd Follow-Up Visit
- August 2024: 4th Workshop
- September 2024: 4th Follow-Up Visit
- TukTuk's Social Media Status (still growing! 🙌):
- Facebook: 6,352 followers
- Teacher's Facebook Group: 5,585 members
- Telegram Channel: 3,235 followers
- YouTube: 8,475 subscribers
- The number of visitors to the Rermork Digital Library (3 months): 34,421 people
The spread of social networking seems to be spreading steadily to other states as well, with early childhood education activities in states far away from Pursat reporting that “some teachers already knew about the website!” 🎊
You can see a detailed report of our activities for the past 3 months here, so please take a look when you have time 🌱.
Voluntuker spotlight | Panha

This month, we introduce Panha from REAN AAN, TukTuk's partner organization. Let's get to know him better!
What are your favorite things? As I am a mobile developer who loves technology and staying up-to-date with the trends, my favorite things include exploring the latest technology news, especially about product launches and updates, rumors and speculation about upcoming Apple products or events particularly from sources like 9To5Mac and MacRumors, which helps me stay informed about innovations. I also love to enjoy watching adventure movies, animation, and anime from Studio Ghibli—their storytelling and artistry are incredibly inspiring.
What do you do at REAN AAN? I am a co-founder and tech team lead at REAN AAN. My role is focused on guiding, mentoring and managing our development team to make sure we can deliver tasks on time we have planned. I am also responsible for the software developer role whose main tasks is to focus on fixing bugs, implementing new features and optimizing the Chlat APP to make it smooth for both iOS and Android platforms.
What makes you happy at work? What I enjoy most about my job is the creative aspect of designing the UX/UI for our apps and the excitement of implementing new features. It’s fulfilling to create intuitive interfaces that enhance user experience and see how our innovations positively impact users. However, I do find fixing bugs to be a bit frustrating, as sometimes addressing one issue leads to the emergence of new bugs.
What do you think about the collaboration with TukTuk? The collaboration with TukTuk is incredibly valuable. It will expand our resources on the platform, allowing us to reach more kids and enhance their experience. Additionally, this collaboration will help TukTuk get more exposure and share what they’re doing, which will benefit both of us and make a bigger impact in our community.
What are your expectations for the future of education in Cambodia? My hope for education in Cambodia is to make it easier for students to access more teaching and learning materials. By making education fun and engaging, we can inspire students to be curious and enjoy learning. This will help them explore new ideas and build important skills, leading to a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
Panha may appear calm and gentle on the outside, but this interview revealed a deep inner interest in technology and a passion for contributing to the field of education using digital technology. As a partner organization, it is very inspiring to see these young people trying to change the future of education in Cambodia🔥🔥.
We are currently looking for volunteers with the following skill sets to help TukTuk bring educational resources to Cambodia;
- Google Ads
- Fundraising
- Website Development
If you want to get involved or know someone with skills that could help us spread positive education in Cambodia, hit that link below and say hi (we're friendly, we promise). 😉
