New year, new goals 🎉

Happy New Year, everyone! We may be a little late for the greetings as four weeks have already passed since the beginning of 2022, but a belated happy new year to all of you! Cambodia, like the rest of us, celebrated the New Year as a one-day global holiday, but the Khmer New Year in April is actually celebrated for 3 days! The CLIP 1 Project was successfully completed in 2021 and we were able to relax a little during the year-end holidays, but now--*drum roll*--it's time for our next big project! Starting January 2022, there will be big activities coming up so expect things to be busier than last year! In January, Phaney, who has been doing remote work for a long time, started working in Pursat, and Choven has returned after taking maternity leave. So TukTuk will resume its activities with its members full-packed! (The picture above was during Fy and Phaney's birthday when we all met up at the office for the first time in a while to celebrate! Both have birthdays on January 1st!) It's going to be an exciting year, and we’re going to be acing every goal we've set especially with your support! We hope you all have an awesome year ahead with lots of love, and we wish you happiness and good health at all times. 🥰

CLIP 1 was successfully completed🎊

The CLIP 1 Project, which started in January 2021, was successfully completed in December 2021. We had been working with 2 districts, 8 teachers, and educational offices from the province.
Unfortunately, the COVID situation made it difficult to meet with the teachers in person, and there were a few activities that couldn't be conducted as planned. However, the worksheet distribution was well received by our project partners, and many children were able to use them. It also gave our partners the opportunity to get to know TukTuk.
A big thank you to our partner organisation, BSDA, for giving us a few insights on how to manage an NGO in Cambodia, and teaching us ways on how to proceed with such a large project. Another big thank you to Rotary Club of Calgary Downtown and Rotary Club of Pursat. We were very fortunate to have the financial support from them, which really helped us persevere despite the unpredictable situation surrounding the pandemic.
Once again, we are very grateful to everyone who supported TukTuk this year, and for our partner teachers who participated in this project. You all have made this endeavor a success!
Teaching resources made in 2021🎵

Long-term school closures brought about by the pandemic pushed us to create more teaching resources. During this time, we were able to release two new books, their resource packages, and more.
If you are curious about what kind of teaching materials were created, they're only one click away with each title below:
Additional resources related to the four storybooks:
New storybooks:
- Songs for preschool students in curriculum by the Ministry of Education.
- Illustration bank containing illustrations of various topics.
- Khmer alphabet and Khmer number worksheets.
- Workshop videos introducing TukTuk and instructional videos on how to use each resource package.
Khmer of the month
Khmer Word: Sokhpheap Chea Dambaung
Have you set your goals for 2022? Whatever they are, one of the things we should prioritize is our "health = sokhpheap", right? This month's Khmer word means "health first." With this in mind, let's continue to overcome the challenges of COVID ahead. 💪

New project for this year✨

What's next after CLIP 1? Thanks to the support of Rotary Club of Calgary Downtown and Rotary Club of Pursat, we are able to continue evolving on to a new project--CLIP 2!
We are very proud to finally be able to hold face-to-face workshops as they were not possible to do in the previous year. This gives us the opportunities to train our teachers on how to connect to the Access Box which allows them to access the Digital Library where they can find our teaching resources. We also plan to train the teachers on how to create teaching materials and classroom decorations themselves.
This year, we will be working with 14 teachers from 10 targets schools in 4 districts (Pursat City, Bakan, Kandient, and Krakor) along with staff from the Provincial Office of Education (POE) and District Office of Education (DOE) in those districts. With the participation of larger schools, we are very optimistic that the project’s influence will spread out to other schools outside of the project. It is our delight to help out as many schools as we can!
Keep posted on our future updates and don't miss out on our TukTalk Newsletters! 😋
Tukstaff spotlight | Bong Srei

This month's TukStaff Spotlight shines on Bong Srei, the head of the TukTuk local staff.
Some trivia about Bong Srei…😉
- Favorite things: Cooking, reading, storytelling to my children, helping others.
- Thoughts on TukTuk: I love how TukTuk focuses on providing educational support for our teachers and kindergartens, instead of financial support alone. I'm happy that through the Mobile Library Project, TukTuk is able to provide children access to children's books. Furthermore, it's really wonderful that our children can learn about the world through Voluntukers from overseas. I'm so excited that TukTuk will be known not only in my country but also all over the world!
- A word for everyone: Kindergarten is the start of a child's education and it sets up their base for success in life. It's similar to building a house, no matter how good the house looks, it will collapse if the foundation is neglected. I'm very grateful to TukTuk and all the supporters from overseas who continue to understand and support us.
"Bong Srei" is the Cambodian word for big sister, and all the staff calls her that. She's a very good cook, too! Just like a sister or mom, we are very grateful to have her fill our stomachs with yummy food. 😋 Most Voluntukers are drawn to Bong Srei not just because of her delicious dishes, but also because of her friendly personality. 😉
We are currently looking for volunteers with the following skillsets to help TukTuk bring educational resources to Cambodia;
- Google Ads
- Fundraising
If you want to get involved or know someone with skills that could help us spread positive education in Cambodia, hit that link below and say hi (we're friendly, promise).
