2nd workshop, new blue shirts, visit from GDG
The second CLIP3 workshop with computer lessons and new experiments, the team's new blue polo shirts, and a first visit from Global Development Group.
The hectic month of May has come to an end🏃🏾💨

In Pursat, the rain has begun to fall gently, bringing a bit of relief and comfort. How have you all been? May (We know, it's the end of June already...so fast!) was a bustling month filled with holidays, visits from our partner NGO, Global Development Group (GDG) from Australia, and our second workshop. It was incredibly productive! (Details below. 👇)
On a personal note, May also marked Adrian and Milly’s birthdays! It was Milly's first birthday in Cambodia. The staff planned a surprise for her, and though she was initially cranky, her tears quickly turned into smiles. It was a day filled with the love of the TukFamily 🥰.
While more people in Cambodia are starting to celebrate birthdays, traditionally, they don't observe them the same way (similar to the Japanese traditional aging by Khmer New Year). Many of our TukStaff members are not accustomed to birthday celebrations. This made us realize anew the importance of cherishing each person’s special day. 💕
Warm regards,
Adrian & Mayu & Milly 🦘👘🧒
The 2nd workshop ✍

On May 23, we successfully held our second workshop! Continuing from last time, we had computer lessons led by members of the Rotary Club of Pursat (RCP) and introduced storybooks and related materials from TukTuk.
This time, we invited a teacher who participated in the previous CLIP2 to join as an instructor. She shared her experiences during the project and how she integrates TukTuk’s materials into her daily activities. What touched us was she said she has almost given up in her career as a pre-school teacher because it was hard to find support finding and creating materials. But since she started working with TukTuk, she felt supported and decided to keep going as a preschool teacher. As a preschool teacher from Pursat Province who participated in the same project, her involvement made it easier for the target teachers to envision their own future participation.
Moreover, we introduced two books, "Who Painted The Sky?" and "Teeny Tiny Monsters." This workshop was more content-rich than the previous one, as we included several experiment ideas related to both books. We conducted a colored water experiment, allowing the teachers to experience more materials firsthand. We believe that by having teachers try the materials and experience the fun and excitement, they can expand the scope of their lessons.
Since the first week of June, we have been visiting each school to see how teachers are using our materials. We look forward to seeing the different lessons they create. 😊
Next, we will hold the third workshop in early July, followed by more school visits a week later! It will be a long-term effort running until the end of the year, but with Adrian, Mayu, Milly, and our six dedicated staff members, we are determined to reach our year-end goal. 🏃
Did you notice...? 👚

As we pass the halfway point of 2024, the first year of our project is also entering its second half. We've featured numerous photos of our staff's activities in this newsletter but did you notice anything different compared to last year’s CLIP2?
Look closely at what they're wearing... 👀
That's right! Our polo shirts have changed from last year's yellow to a vibrant blue! This new color, showcased in the workshop photos above👆, really pops. The bright blue and playful illustrations have caught the attention of many, with people even saying, "I like it!" and "I want one!" 😄
This year, the entire CLIP3 team is proudly wearing this new color as we work together to enhance early childhood education in Pursat Province!
Khmer of the month
Khmer Word: Parithan
June 5 is "World Environment Day," a day dedicated to reflecting on and addressing environmental issues. The extreme heatwaves in Cambodia have heightened our awareness of the ongoing global warming crisis. 🥵 It's essential for us to continually reassess what we can do to protect our planet and what we can pass on to the next generation.
This month's Khmer word is "Parithan" (environment). At TukTuk, we are planning to create a storybook about the environment, with the goal of engaging children in thinking about and discussing the importance of the environment together. 🌱
Khmer Food: Tamnab Svay (Dried mangos) 👇

Visited by GDG 👀

Meena and James from the Global Development Group (GDG), our partners since May last year, visited Pursat for the first time.
GDG facilitates tax-deductible donations to TukTuk from countries including Australia, the United States, Canada, and Europe (unfortunately, Japan is not yet included). They not only handle donations but also oversee our operations and address various questions.
Their first visit allowed us to meet in person and showcase our activities, strengthening our mutual trust. GDG partners with around 40 projects in Cambodia and fosters connections and information exchange among NGOs through an annual collaboration meeting for Cambodian partner NGOs. This year's meeting is scheduled for September, and we plan to attend for the first time. We're excited about the opportunity to meet other NGOs!
Voluntuker spotlight | Sambath

This time, let us introduce Sambath, a member of the Rotary Club of Pursat (RCP), who works with us as part of the CLIP3 team.
What do you do outside RCP?: I'm the principal of a school operated by the Rotary Club in Pursat. Additionally, I teach Khmer language and mathematics.
Impression of CLIP3: I believe this project is very beneficial for the target teachers. In particular, they are improving their computer skills, teaching techniques, and creativity in making teaching materials.
Hopes for Preschool Education in Cambodia: I hope it becomes a more reinforced field of education, focusing on acquiring social skills.
Sambath joined us as a new member at the start of CLIP3. Interestingly, she had been interested in the project's content since CLIP2. During her first CLIP3 school visit, she was enthusiastic about listening to the teachers and finding teaching materials that could be used in her school. As fellow educators, we look forward to sharing teaching ideas in the future.
We are currently looking for volunteers with the following skill sets to help TukTuk bring educational resources to Cambodia;
- Google Ads
- Fundraising
If you want to get involved or know someone with skills that could help us spread positive education in Cambodia, hit that link below and say hi (we're friendly, we promise). 😉
