HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! đ
Isolation may be making hugs this Mother's day difficult, but we're sending a big virtual hug to everyone đ¤. So grab a cuppa and have a read about the latest news from TukTuk.
In Cambodia Mother's day is usually involves a fancy cake but It is not just Mothers day that keeps the bakeries busy. At the end of the school year, teachers get cakes from their students and if you are popular, you will end up eating cake all month. We hope all our TukMums are treating themselves with some home-baked goods today also.

TUKTUK FAMILY IS ONLINE đ¨âđ¨âđ§âđ§
This last month we have been working remotely and the 40 plus temperatures have been challenging with laptops shutting down and phones overheating. Every day starts with logging in and saying hello on slack and Mayu is busy all day in conference calls delegating work and checking results.
According to official reports, there are only 3 cases of COVID19 left in Cambodia, but schools are still closed and the government hasn't officially given an opening day. So TukTuk will keep working remotely for the foreseeable future đ
"JACK THE GIANT" IS NOW AVAILABLE ON YOUTUBE đ
The TukBook animation of "Jack the Giant" is available on Youtube. We recently shared the local version on our Khmer Facebook page and reached almost 28,000 people. Although the original is in Khmer, this link has English subtitles for our international audience to enjoy. This is Fy's first voice acting gig and he did a great jobđ
If would like to buy the hardcopy of the book, (and support TukTuk in the process), you can buy it from here.
HUMAN CENTERED DESIGN đ§
In our 2020 Goals blog post, goal 2 talked about our approach to creating resources using human-centered design. But what is HCD and how do we use it?
We knew you would ask that so with the help of Tim, our new virtual volunteer, we have written up exactly what HCD means for TukTuk. Go on, click the link and dive into the inner workings of TukTuk.
KHMER OF THE MONTH
Khmer Word: Ascharďź
"Aschar" pronounced O-char, means "Congratulations/Well done/Wonderful". It is often used in schools to reward a correct answer or if someone did a good thing. The class starts by shouting "Muoi Pee Bai (1, 2, 3)..." then everyone puts their thumbs up to the lucky student and says "O-char"đ
Khmer Food: Bobo Lapau (Pumpkin Porridge) đ
APACFP + TUKTUKđ¤
Thanks to Mayu's news article in Japan last month, we were contacted by the "Association to Protect Asian Children from Foodborn Disease". They have created a sanitation picture book and after a couple of quick edits to culturally align some images and a translation, we now have a new book available in our Digital Library along with some donated copies for the Mobile Library.
This is a great example of how TukTuk works with other organisations for our common goal of improving the lives of kids in Cambodia.Â
ARTWORK TO INSPIRE đ¨
This month, Mayu's 92 year old grandpa, who has been painting for 72 years as a hobby, has painted the TukTuk logo for our office in Cambodia. He said proudly that he didn't use any ruler or other aid, just by hand. We're not sure TukTuk will be around in another 100 years but as he painted it in oil on canvas, we know this painting will be đÂ
We have commissioned him to do a second painting which will take up to 6 months to complete. When it is done, we will, of course, share it with our TukTuk family.

Bruce is a developer and graphic designer from Brazil and has been working on updating our website.Â
Thanks Bruce for all of your hard work and look forward to our new donations page soon.
We are currently looking for volunteers with the following skill sets to help TukTuk bring educational resources to Cambodia;
