HAPPY NEW YEAR!!🎉
2021 has arrived in no time! What kind of New Year's Eve did you have? The TukTuk team has been cleaning up to move to a new office for the new year. And with the addition of new international staff, a new project has begun, and there is no doubt that 2021 will be even better! (Details are ↓ ^^)
The pandemic is still slowing down progress and it seems that it will be an unstable year all over the world, but this year as well, with the help of our TukTuk Krousah members, we will proceed at full speed!
We look forward to working with you all in 2021🙇♂️🙇♀️

WHAT ARE WE UP TO IN 2021...? ✨
It's already been a year since the Tuklution began and we were reborn as "TukTuk" (instead of Tuk Tuk for Children). In 2021, we will be involved in a new project called CLIP project from January. This is a one-year project in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Calgary in Canada, the Rotary Club of Pursat, the Cambodian local NGO BSDA (Buddhism for Social Development Action), and the Department of Education in Pursat.
We will give teachers access to our resources in a further 8 schools. This will include installing our AccessBox into schools, teacher workshops and classroom visits. In addition, TukTuk will continue to enhance its resource bank, such as creating TukBooks, activities, worksheets, and original songs, as well as translating StoryWeaver picture books.
Like 2020, COVID is expected to affect classes this year as well. TukTuk would like to support the CLIP project and other teachers so that the lessons will be easier for teachers in such situations. It will be another amazing year where TukTuk will further establish itself as a leader in early childhood education. 💪
NEW SNAZZY OFFICE! 🏡
We have moved from the old office that we have been using for 4 years to a new office! For the past month or so, the staff have been busy cleaning and packing in preparation of the big move.
As the new office is less than a minute's walk from the old office, the BIG move was not as big as it could of been and we still retain the connections that we have in the local community.
In addition, the new office will continue to have rooms for Voluntukers. Since the pandemic isn't getting better any time soon, it will still be a little while before they arrive ... However, all the TukTuk staff are looking forward to welcoming Voluntukers from each country and returning to the lively daily life ♪
KHMER OF THE MONTH
Khmer Word: Chaul Chhnam Sakal
"Chaul Chhnam" means "New Year" and "Sakal" means "International". In fact, New Year comes to Cambodia three times a year, and this month is the "International New Year", and only January 1st is a holiday.
The second New Year is the Chinese New Year in February, and the Cambodian New Year in April is the most celebrated. We wish all the world celebrated so many occasions ...!
Khmer Food: Nom Bng Sach(Baguettes)👇
NICE TO MEET YOU!👩🏻
Hello everyone! My name is Keiko and I have joined the TukTuk staff from last month. I have previously worked in Pursat as a Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer for two years from 2017 to 2019 and have been interacting with TukTuk since then. I'm really happy to be involved as a staff member at my favorite nonprofit, TukTuk, and I'm happy to work in my favorite state, Pursat.
I started working with the local staff already on the CLIP project (I'm the project manager). I'm half excited and half anxious, but will do my best to help the project as soon as possible 💪
I will be in charge of TukTalk in the future, so please look forward to receiving it every month ^^
VOLUNTUKER SPOTLIGHT | COLIN
It's been really tough to find someone who can help program our AccessBox and that is why we were so excited to get Colin from Australia on board. Colin has been working to fix some power startup problems and now has the AccessBox shutting down overnight and starting up again in the mornings.
Not only will this save a bit of power for the schools but it will also ensure the AccessBox gets a daily reboot making it more reliable. Thanks, Colin for all of your hard work.
We are currently looking for volunteers with the following skill sets to help TukTuk bring educational resources to Cambodia;
If you want to get involved or know someone with skills that could help us spread positive education in Cambodia, hit that link below and say hi (we're friendly, promise).
