EXCITING TIMES JUST AROUND THE CORNER 😏
It's been months since we have visited the schools and we sure do miss the fun and games, (like our pic above 😁). Just like every country, Cambodia is in a semi-closed state. TukTuk has been fortunate enough to retain most of our funding and creating digital resources was a great move although not planned for COVID specifically. It has allowed us to more easily transition into remote working.
In a week or two, we will be launching our new campaign and you, our loyal supporters will be front and center. I don't want to give away too much at this point but there are some exciting times just around the corner. With the staff due back in the office in September and school starting in November, things are moving full steam ahead but let's have a look at what we have been up to recently.

TUKTUK TEAM REUNITED FOR A DAY🎉
Team TukTuk are still working remotely for now, but at the end of July, the Government requested for everyone to have a health check-up. Even though they were a little nervous, it was the perfect opportunity for everyone to see each other again after 5 months of working apart. The team is excited to be back in the office and reunited, even if it was only for one day.
MEETING THE CAMBODIAN AMBASSADOR OF JAPAN🙏
We recently had the incredible opportunity to meet the Cambodian Ambassador of Japan, Rachana Ung (middle). We of course took this chance to introduce Rachana to our TukBook "Jack the Giant". He was very friendly and gave us many thanks for supporting Cambodian early childhood education.
Ms. Sros, (right), who actually invited us to this wonderful event, owns a Cambodian restaurant in the city of Fukuoka in Japan. She is a big supporter for Cambodian people living in the local area.
We were also introduced to a lovely Japanese lady who takes care of Cambodian workers in Japan and was very excited to use and share TukTuk's resources to the families of workers. In these unusual times, it has been difficult to meet new people and share our story, so we were really grateful to have this small chance.
Our intern from last year, Yieng, created this wonderful Khmer alphabet poster for us. Choven helped to edit it with such bright and beautiful colours!
You can download the poster and a card for each letter here. If anyone is interested in learning Khmer, this poster is a great place to start! You can revise all the Khmer phrases in the past TukTalk as well. We can't think of a better time than now to learn Khmer.
KHMER WORD OF THE MONTH
Khmer Word: Sabay Chet
"Sabay" means fun and "Chet" means heart so, "Sabay Chet" means happy!
In Khmer, "Chet" is used in many different words to express feelings. We will introduce more in the future. We are "Sabay Chet Nas" (very happy) to have met the Ambassador of Cambodia in Japan!

DIGITAL LIBRARY TEACHER INTERVIEWS🎤
We have been wanting to make our 'TukTuk Digital Library' more user friendly for a long time now. We are now lucky enough to have Lauren and Charlene, our amazing voluntukers on board to help us make this a reality!
Lauren and Charlene started their work by interviewing teachers who will be using the Digital Library platform. They wanted to know what experience the teachers have with technology and how they use it in their lesson plans.
The first interview was with Ms. Leaksmy from the Pursat State preschool. We managed to have people from Australia, America, Japan, and Cambodia in the interview and she was overjoyed to see how many people from all over the world care about Cambodian education.
The second interview was with Ms. Sophea who works in a more rural preschool. Our interview process was much faster the second time around, we were delighted to receive so much important information.
Our goal is to interview 5 or more teachers and we are looking forward to talking to all of them.🎶
VOLUNTUKER SPOTLIGHT | LAUREN & CHARLENE
We are so happy to have finally found Lauren and Charlene who are the perfect support for our digital library design.
Lauren is from Australia, but currently lives in the USA and has over 10 years of experience in UX design. Even though she works full time, Lauren has already shared some really exciting ideas and shown us some amazing work.
Charlene is from Singapore, and currently studies UX design in Australia. She has been an incredible help to Lauren by analysing and inputing data. This project has only just started but we are really excited to see what the future will bring!
Thank you Lauren and Charlene for all of your hard work!
